This Cornwall painting is a piece of original art painted with acrylic on canvas with gold and silver leaf by Cornish artist John Dyer.
This spectacular nocturne painting of the Kenidjack Valley captures the view to Cape Cornwall in the autumn with suptuous blackberries and a starlit sky.
Inspired by the artist’s walks around the coast of Cornwall, this painting has a wonderful use of line to describe the steep sides of the valley. There are echoes of the artist’s paintings of Peru in this piece, with a rich palette and bands of colours on the hillside.
Two donkeys live in the valley and they feature in the painting, adding a fantastic focal point and narrative as the blackberry pickers tempt them over.
The silver and gold leaf in the painting has been applied to the stars and reflections in the sea which catch the light and illuminate as you view from different angles.
To protect the painting’s gilding it has been varnished with a two layer protective gloss UV varnish and is supplied framed and ready to hang.
This is a very beautiful and special contemporary painting of Cornwall that captures the narrative, mystery, and beauty of the landscape of the Kenidjack Valley and Cape Cornwall so well, and is a key painting in the artist’s career.
